YouTube Time Machine (YTTM) is a fun site for using YouTube as a time machine to go back and view different videos of your favorite year.  What makes this real handy is the filter which allows users to filter through different categories such as: sports, video games, commercials, and more.

Sugar Shake

Posted on 08:02 by Unknown
Sugar Shake is a fun iPad app that is ideal for Chemistry students that I found out about on Edshelf.  This educational game has users shaken the iPad to have proteins collide into sugar molecules to break them down while avoiding obstacles.  This is a very fun and addicting game w/ lots of levels to try to get through.

I recommend checking out Sugar Shake by clicking here!!!

For another excellent iPad app on Chemistry check out ChemDraw.

ChemDraw

Posted on 11:27 by Unknown
ChemDraw is fantastic iPad app for Chemistry teachers.  This is an app that can be used by HS/College students and is ideal way for them to create/draw molecules and then share them easily w/ others.  Also, this is a nice app for educators to use to help engage their students and help w/ them studying for tests.  Best of all this is a very user friendly app that has users creating drawing of molecules and reactions by simply touching and dragging their finger across the iPad screen!!!!

Here is more detailed information from their press release...

This new mobile app also features a Flick-to-Share technology, a groundbreaking development that brings molecular education to a new level, giving teachers, students, and professional chemists a new tool to bring chemistry to life. Flick-to-Share gives users the ability to:

  •   Easily and rapidly share molecular structures across mobile devices
  •   Requires only a single finger swipe gesture to transfer images from one to another user regardless of geographic location
  •   Eliminates the need for multi-step emails or cloud storage services
I highly recommend checking out ChemDraw by clicking here!!!

Gus on the Go

Posted on 07:38 by Unknown
Gus on the Go is a fantastic iOS/Android app for students wanting to learn a language.  This is all done through a wide variety of games and exercises such as: matching, bubbles, horse racing and more.  All in all there are over 10 fun filled activities that students can do while exploring different maps and unlocking more and more features.  Just to give an example I let me 6 and 7 yr old try this app out first and they played it for about an hour before I could even sit down to check it out.

I highly recommend checking out Gus on the Go by clicking here!!!

MindMup

Posted on 17:16 by Unknown
MindMup is a new site for brainstorming or mind-mapping that I just found out about from Free Technology 4 Teachers.  This is a easy site to use where a user only has to hit return after typing to create a text box.  These boxes can be rearranged and ideal for creating brainstorms or mind-maps.  One of the best features is the ability to embed a mind-map into a blog or site.

I recommend checking out MindMup by clicking here!!!

Snap!

Posted on 08:50 by Unknown
Snap! is a site that is ideal for MS/HS learning how to program.  The site is a spin-off of Scratch and works very similarly w/ a drag-n-drop interface of "snapping" pieces of blocks together.  These blocks are commands and a user can see on the right side of the screen what is happening as they put these blocks together.

I recommend checking out Snap! by clicking here!!!

For a more detailed review check out Free Technology 4 Teachers.

Posted on 08:41 by Unknown
Level it Books is the excellent iOS app for educators/parents/librarians for scanning a books ISBN and getting a books Reading/Lexile level.  Also, this app allows for educators to keep a digital library of all their classroom books as well as a class roster w/ each students Reading/Lexile level.  Finally, this is a fantastic app to have to manually search for books as well as scanning a book before your child begins reading to get an idea of what level the book is at.

I highly recommend checking out Level it Books by clicking here!!!!
